Favorite Ocean City Running Routes

In Ocean City there are so many opportunities to be active. When the warmer months arrive, this statement becomes even more true & the activities themselves often more enjoyable & scenic.

In our notoriously walkable town, summer means that biking is the favorite mode of transportation, surfers dot the coastline during every hour of the day, & maritime activities like paddle boarding & kayaking are in all their glory.  Oh, & the runners are everywhere.

No matter if you’re a lifetime running enthusiast with a personal best to beat, a high school cross country participant who dusts off their shoes when the mood occasionally strikes, or the person who gets dragged into a 5k with the family once or twice a year, summer in Ocean City, with its cool breezes & opportunities to catch gorgeous views, is enough to make anyone lace-up their shoes.

In our active community we know that there are many runners in our ranks. Which we know is especially awesome for the combined benefits that a consistent strength training and running regimen can afford. Trainers Dre & Nikki have revved up their running this summer, logging miles all over town. In that spirit, we rounded up a few of our favorite Ocean City running routes that you can customize to suit your goals:

THE BOARDS

As Ocean City as it gets, the Boardwalk is often our claim to fame when compared to other South Jersey beach towns. With its array of seaside shops, delicacies, & amusements there are many great reasons to hop up on the boards – running is one of them!

The Bridge

A charm to Ocean City is that like many of the South Jersey beach towns, our barrier island can only be reached by a long curving bridge. The main artery onto the island, & in our opinion the most runner friendly of our three bridges, is the 9thStreet Bridge.

The Streets

If you’re a street runner on the North end, you’re in luck. Our pick for the best area to street run in Ocean City is definitely The Gardens.

The Sand

If you aren’t afraid of a little sand in your shoes, beach runs are a great option that can add some variation & novelty to your run! Not to mention the squawking gulls overhead, the crashing of the waves, & the sea mist in your hair just might keep the smile on your face from start to finish.
